Swipe to explore

Hospital analysis laboratory Challenge 01 · Conductivity

Ionic purity stability and USP compliance

The challenge

USP mandates conductivity below 1.3 µS/cm at 25 °C. Any ionic drift compromises reagents and accelerates subsystem degradation.

The Puribec approach

Dual-barrier high-performance reverse osmosis with automated recirculation and flush at every shutdown to prevent fouling.

Platforms used

  • Série Altum
  • Série Sirius
  • Série PRO

Performance

  • TDS reduced > 95%
  • USP / EP compliant
UV disinfection hospital network Challenge 02 · Biofilms

Bacterial elimination and biofilm control

The challenge

Biofilm adhesion on pipe walls is the most feared infection risk in hemodialysis and reprocessing (MDRU). Micro-roughness and dead zones promote endotoxin buildup.

The Puribec approach

Synergy of ultrafiltration, microfiltration and UV irradiation (germicidal and organic), with sanitary fittings reducing proliferation zones.

Platforms used

  • Shelco
  • Strainrite
  • Pall
  • Viqua/Trojan
  • Aquafine
  • Luminor

Performance

  • Validated bacterial inactivation
  • Zero chemicals
Kinetico Hydrus softener for autoclaves Challenge 03 · Scaling

Protecting autoclaves and steam generators

The challenge

Calcium and magnesium precipitate in sterilization autoclaves and thermal disinfectors — scale deposits become physical nests for biofilm colonies.

The Puribec approach

Industrial volumetric duplex/multiplex softeners, smart regeneration exclusively with soft water and countercurrent flow.

Platforms used

  • Kinetico CP Series
  • Kinetico Hydrus Series

Performance

  • −40% salt
  • −30% wastewater
  • Soft water 24/7
Programmable controllers and Puribec instrumentation Challenge 04 · Traceability

Data traceability and regulatory audit

The challenge

Accreditation audits require rigorous traceability. Any gap in continuous data can force the shutdown of an entire clinical department.

The Puribec approach

100% third-party certified components, high-end PLCs and complete instrumentation to centralize logging.

Network integration

  • BACnet
  • Modbus / Modbus TCP-IP
  • PROFINET

Compliance

  • CSA B483.1
  • NSF/ANSI 55, 61, 372
Puribec water recycling and recovery system Challenge 05 · Environmental responsibility

Reducing the water footprint

The challenge

Municipal discharge is increasingly monitored and billed based on flow and salt load — facilities must reconcile ultra-pure water with responsible effluent management.

The Puribec approach

Adjustable internal recirculation and recycling loops without membrane fouling. Physical ultrafiltration with no chemical additives.

Platforms used

  • Série Altum
  • Série Sirius
  • Série PRO

Performance

  • 50–75% recovery
  • 97–99% salt rejection

Concrete operational benefits

Integrating a Puribec treatment chain delivers measurable financial and operational benefits over the short, medium and long term.

  • Drastically reduced downtime thanks to Overdrive multiplex configurations and the PureRince cycle.
  • Major savings: −40% salt, −30% wastewater consumption (non-electric KineticoPRO).
  • Flawless sanitary and legal safety with systems certified by independent third parties (CSA, NSF).
  • Continuous, scientifically validated bacterial inactivation, with no compromise on compliance.

Frequently asked questions about medical water treatment

What is the main difference between USP purified water and water for injection?

USP purified water is mainly intended for manufacturing non-sterile pharmaceutical products, equipment cleaning, and as a pretreatment. Its conductivity must be below 1.3 µS/cm at 25 °C. Water for injection (WFI) requires even stricter thresholds, including near-total elimination of bacterial endotoxins (often below 0.25 EU/ml). To reach this grade, Puribec combines double-pass reverse osmosis (Altum or Sirius Series) with continuous submicron ultrafiltration or mixed-bed deionization.

Why choose a non-electric KineticoPRO softener for central sterilization?

Hospital central sterilization requires a continuous 24/7 supply of softened water to prevent scale buildup in high-thermal-load autoclaves. A traditional electric softener relies on a clock or timer prone to failure, and can interrupt service during nighttime regeneration. KineticoPRO’s CP and Hydrus Series run purely on the kinetic energy of moving water. In Overdrive configuration, one tank stays 100% active while the other regenerates, guaranteeing constant flow with zero risk of electrical failure.

What is the PureRince cycle and how does it affect our return on investment?

When a conventional reverse osmosis system shuts down, mineral-concentrated water sits against the membranes, causing rapid crystalline precipitation that clogs the pores. The exclusive patented PureRince cycle actively flushes this saturated water at every shutdown by automatically injecting a minimum of 5 housing volumes of treated water at low pressure. This passive flush prevents scaling with no chemical additives, doubles the useful lifespan of your medical-grade membranes, and reduces the frequency and cost of chemical (CIP) cleanings.
